I often find respite from the busy week on my rooftop deck. DC is all about rooftops, in fact I even had my wedding on the rooftop of a building. Needless to say when I was in search of purchasing my first home, this deck was a huge selling feature.

I did a lot of research on outdoor patio furniture and decor before choosing these awesome Acapulco chairs. The design and the bright pink was just what I was looking for to complement the gray exterior. I first saw these chairs in a home decor store and I instantly fell in love with them. Unfortunately, I did not fall in love with the price. Fate stepped in and I found the exact chairs in the exact color I was looking for being sold locally on Craigslist. It was meant to be! Not only did I get these chairs at half price, the woman who sold them to me was super friendly (I kind of want to be her new friend!).

The other must-have for my deck was something green. I live in an urban environment and I lack a green thumb, so I needed something that I couldn’t accidentally kill. I saw this ottoman and it gave me the inspiration to search for something that gave the feeling of grass without it being real grass. Enter this awesome outdoor shag rug I found online. The rest of the decor I kept very neutral with outdoor linen pillows and an outdoor table with multiple surfaces. Now there is plenty of room for my beverages and stacks of magazines!

Here’s to taking in one last beautiful warm day before we begin to prepare and hibernate for winter.

How do you relax and unwind from the work week?
