Nothing is more fun than birthday parties.  I headed out to help celebrate my pal Kylee’s birthday a few Saturdays ago at a local place called Little Miss Whiskey’s (LMW).  The challenge with going out in cold weather is always figuring out what to wear so that you don’t look like a football player when you leave the house (a la 1980s/90s Starter Jackets).  I created an outfit based on the goal that I didn’t want to have to bulk up.  The choice of a shirt dress and tights were pretty straightforward.  It may look more cold to wear a dress but I find that tights keep you way warmer than pants or jeans.  Next, I added this long sweater shawl.  It doubled as a “completer” piece for the outfit and my outwear for the night (I just added a scarf and hat for the walk I made to LMW).  I felt surprisingly warm during the walk and also very comfortable when I stepped indoors – the best of both worlds!

…And of course a party outfit wouldn’t qualify as a party outfit without large pieces of statement jewelry and accessories, now would it?!  The bigger, the more gold, and the more blingy, the better!
