[Le Diplomate Bar]
This past weekend, my adventures in DC had an unintentional Parisian flair. I had a chance to try new places in my current and old (and much missed) neighborhood. I started with a Friday night dinner at Le Grenier in the bustling H St. Corridor where the decor was beautifully ecletic and the food superbly delicious. If you visit, try the La Classique (asparagus, smoked salmon, and poached egg) as an hors d’oeuvre, the Gros ragout à l’orange (braised beef stew in an orange-wine reduction) for your entree, and a Ti Moun (Nutella and poached pears) crepe to finish off the night.
On Saturday we returned to our favorite place for chocolate croissants and brunched at the new and highly praised Le Diplomate in the 14th Street area for a traditional and delicious Salade Nicoise. This place is vast with multiple options for indoor and outdoor dining. It had the classic look and feel of a French cafe.
In addition to the cuisine, I realized that my husband was sporting attire that fit the French experience. I also met up with a co-worker/friend to catch up on both business and personal things…and was it a coincidence that he and his sweet bébé are French?
