The last time I wore a crop top was in high school.  I never thought I would put one back on again in my 30s!   Why it works this time around is because the crop is mixed with a higher waist.  Depending on your weapon of choice (er…I mean bottoms of choice), the top can go glam or casual.  I chose to go for a sporty look and paired the top and shoes with a faux leather skirt.  By going with all black, it creates a monochrome effect making the sneakers look more sophisticated.  This is a combination I wouldn’t normally put together if I didn’t have the shoe constraint, but I loved the outcome.  As a bonus, it makes getting around town really comfortable!

  1. Same here…I was totally hesitant of the crop top trend this summer. I’m thinking…at my age!? Hahaha…but this is my favorite way to wear one…with a high waisted skirt! Totally age appropriate and chic…and makes it look like I have the semblance of the abs I had in my youth 😛

    1. LOL, I feel you re: abs of our youth. It’s amazing how I was so eager as a teen to wear crop tops and think nothing of it. I agree that now if we were to wear one, it’s got to be with a high waist all the way!
