SEE LARK! | Stars, Stripes and Surprise

July 4th festivities were last week but I can’t help but carry forward the stars and stripes theme just a wee bit longer. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but my recent outfit posts have been more on the “blousy” side. That’s because I have an ever-growing mid section.  I am excited to share that hubby and I are expecting our first child in early December! I am about 17 weeks in this picture and finally have enough of a bump to wear tight fit clothing without people being mistakened (hopefully) that I am just out of shape.

Now comes the challenge of getting dressed on a daily basis…don’t get me wrong, I love to get creative with the ways I can dress.  So far, I can wear regular clothes in either my pre-pregnancy size or just by going a size up, but finding appropriate work wear has been a little more difficult. My research has shown some really cute things but in my head I am thinking…”Really? You can’t wear that to the office!”  Thankfully, my Internet skillz has led me to Isabella Oliver who has nice tailored pieces for the workplace that don’t look like a tent so I splurged on this pencil skirt and a few other pieces – just basics in black for now and reassessing my size and needs at the end of Summer.

For those who have been through the journey, I would love to hear your tips and tricks on staying stylish throughout the whole nine months!

  1. Conratulations Elaine!! That is such wonderful news and I am thrilled for you!! I was a big fan of the empire style blouse cuts and they got me through most of my pregnancies. And since it is a summer pregnancy dresses are a girls best friend! XOXO

  2. Congratulations! You look super lovely. I would say maxi dresses are fantastic as they’re easy to transition from summer to fall. I’m excited to see your pregnancy style!

  3. Congrats!!!!! So happy for you and your hubby!! Unfortunately I can’t help you with tips how to look stylish throughout coming months, since I’ve never been there. But I’m sure you’ll manage, ’cause you have great sense of style!!!

  4. Awww so exciting Elaine! You’ll be one stylish Mama I’m sure. I stuck to dresses for the most part as pants always felt so tight around my tummy but that’s just me. Anything that makes you feel comfortable and low heels and/or flats. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I agree on the comments about pants. I may try some jeans when it gets colder but I must say…as much as I love dresses, I miss separates…especially my cut off shorts for the summer!
