I am not a huge “perfume” person but I stumbled upon a fragrance that I just can’t resist. While dabbling in new beauty products, I received a sample of Jo Malone’s English Pear and Freesia. It has a warm, fruity, and neutral scent appropriate for any (or lack thereof) occasion. After using up the sample, I promptly bought a full bottle of this universally appealing smell. This past weekend we had more snow. Add to that some sleet and rain and it would make anyone cry ‘uncle’. We booked our first family mini-vacation to South Florida and I couldn’t be more excited to get away from the cold. Granted it won’t be a scorcher, but should be warm enough to get some rays by a pool. Here’s what I have in mind for me and A. Any of you also planning a retreat from the cold? It took me a long while to get used to the idea of jumpsuits (see me fashion one here). Now that I am fully on the jumpsuit bandwagon, I have been eyeing a more “mechanical engineer” style. I am really drawn to this khaki colored version from Madewell. The zippers speak to me, maybe that’s because it would make it nursing friendly…bonus! On the other hand, I found a brown/green jumpsuit on Asos which leans more towards the feminine side that I also love. How do you feel about the jumpsuit style? Which would you choose?
I never had any real serious acne or breakout problems as a teenager or in my 20s. However, leading up, during, and after my pregnancy, I am more prone to blemishes. I blame my hormones but that doesn’t make them go away any faster! I recently changed up my night time routine to incorporate some new products to help treat my skin and I am completely in love with them! First, I wash my face with my same trusty cleanser and then I use three different bare Mineral products to finish the process. Continue reading “Product Love: Bare Minerals”
I have become a huge fan of second hand sales and consignment shopping of late. With the introduction of online communities like Poshmark and Bib and Tuck, it has made it way easier to find that “pot of gold” at silver prices. I have had recent luck scoring an Hermes bracelet, Chanel bag, and Valentino kitten heels that I thought I would start a semi-regular series showcasing designer finds sold at a *reasonable* discounted price. (maybe I don’t need that feather dress but perhaps you do!). I bring attention to the word reasonable, because there is no such thing as buying an authentic Chanel for $100. That is unrealistic. This is to help those genuinely wanting to invest in designer without paying top dollar. As a bonus, sites like Poshmark also now offer authentication services and return policies of items are not as described so it makes it that much easier to trust in second hand sales. What was your greatest designer steal or deal? Continue reading “Shop It: Luxe Finds”
Dainty, barely there jewelry is something that never goes out of style. There are a lot of options out there and Etsy is a great resource to find affordable (and lavish) ones. Here is a round-up of some dainty gold jewelry that has caught my eye. Continue reading “Eye On Etsy”
I love the warm and fuzzy feeling I get when the holidays come around. Friends and family come through town for visits and there are sales out the wazoo (is that word?) giving us the opportune time to buy things on our wish list. I am all about winter whites every winter (see my version of a winter white outfit from last season here) and feel that there is a place for this wonderfully neutral color for everyone, including your home. Here are some pieces that I have my eye on in both a high end and low end version – a tailored shirt dress for her, a cable knit sweater for him, and something furry and fluffy for your house. Which pieces would you choose?
PS: With continuous online sales, prices may be even lower!
Sales don’t seem to have the same meaning anymore. I remember working in a part-time retail job in high school and Black Friday was actually a big deal. But nowadays, it seems though that sales start earlier and store openings get a little more ridiculous each year. I love a good shopping haul but prefer to stay away from the chaos. This year for Cyber Monday (which really started on Friday, but let’s not get into that), I have my eye set on bigger items that are hard to come by on discount. Here are a few of my favorites, there is still some time left to save a little dough as you spend big. Continue reading “It’s Cyber Monday, Time To Splurge”
I can’t believe the holiday season is upon us again. This time of year is always full of fashion fun with all the parties, events, and family gatherings planned over the next few months. I am particularly drawn to a basic LBD (or LGD – little gray dress) with festive trimmings. Here are a few high-low options for your consideration, let cocktail party season begin! Continue reading “High Low: Dresses With All The Trimmings”
As a lover of all things boot-related, I am excited to see an emphasis on over-the-knee boots this season. While it’s a style that has been around, there has been noticeably more choices in design and price points. I guess this means we CAN have our cake and eat it too…you just have to decide whether you’ll walk over to the bakery in heels or flats. Continue reading “OMG…OTKs!”
