My Obsession With Stripes

At the last count, I think I own about six or seven striped tops and dresses. Stripes have become my go-to pattern and I can always spot enough variation to justify the purchase of a new piece. The newest one is from J. Crew and incredibly soft and warm.  So far, I have worn it with a blazer for work, with jeans on the weekend, and most recently with a skirt for family photos (A approves!). Peekaboo

SEE LARK! | Peekaboo

Playing peekaboo is a popular past time in my household these days.  As a result, it made sense that my summer wardrobe reflect the same playfulness.  This dress from Madewell is the perfect apparel version of the game.  Its subtle cut-out allows you to bare just a bit of torso, which for one who doesn’t like to show a lot of midriff was just enough to feel fun and sophisticated.  PS…it has pockets!!! Dinner Date

SEE LARK! | Dinner Date

The husband and I planned a dinner date on short notice this past weekend. It wasn’t until after the reservation was made that I realized our wedding anniversary was coming up. Therefore, it was our anniversary dinner!  These days I need to be able to get ready quick so I slipped on this shift dress. It’s light and airy…just what is needed on a warm night. Is This Normcore?

SEE LARK! | Normcore

I learned the term “Normcore” last year when it blew up the fashion world. It describes an “anti-style” style, think bland, non-descript clothing.  Some may argue that it’s not a trend all. Regardless, I have embraced more basics into my wardrobe making it easy to get dressed in the morning. Normcore or not, it’s definitely practical and stylish. Continue reading “Is This Normcore?”

2014 Outfit Round-Up

SEE LARK! | 2014 Outfit Round-Up

This is such a cliche, but time really flies when you are having fun. This year has been especially busy with a new role at work to start off the year and a new baby to end it. Through it all, personal style was my drishti in times of stress. While taking a look back at my outfits from this year, I picked out a few of my favorites. I predict these style elements make a repeat appearance in 2015. Continue reading “2014 Outfit Round-Up”

Slouchy Skinny

SEE LARK! | Slouchy Skinny

The term slouchy skinny sounds like an oxymoron; however, it does exist. It’s a great fit and style of denim for those that find the boyfriend jean to be too frumpy or just not quite the right shape. I am currently living In a pair by Current Elliott. It’s the perfect cross between style and comfort going with almost every type of shoe. Here, I try it out with an Oxford shoe and feeling like I hit the “dressed-up casual” jackpot. Continue reading “Slouchy Skinny”

Noir

SEE LARK! | Noir

As I transition back to my pre-pregnancy style, I am finding comfort in an all-black outfit.  Black is of course slimming, but honestly the cold weather is what is really driving me to something simple and monochromatic. As a side note, stretch fabric is a girl’s best friend! Continue reading “Noir”

Refined Plaid

SEE LARK! | Refined Plaid

With the introduction of Fall comes a variety of plaid patterns for the choosing. I tend to go for the reliable black and white combination in a larger print.  It’s graphic and feels more sophisticated than your “everyday” plaid.  Adding a burgundy heel and a leather jacket (which has been in heavy rotation lately),  are a great toppers that help me channel my pre-pregnancy self. Continue reading “Refined Plaid”

Remix

SEE LARK! | Remix

The name of the styling game when pregnant is remix. Your wardrobe has an expiration date so you don’t want to buy too much or too ornate of pieces otherwise you don’t get a lot of use out of them. I scored this Bedford dress by Hatch during the summer and have already worn it multiple times.  I have styled it for a casual look with gladiator sandals and paired it with heels for a formal affair.   Continue reading “Remix”

Late Summer

SEE LARK! | Late Summer

As much as I am looking forward to Fall, I am trying to soak up as much of Summer as I can.  Straw hats and short dresses are the epitome of a lazy, “nothing to do”, warm August afternoon.  I choose an all black ensemble.  I know what you are thinking, isn’t that reserved for colder months and New Yorkers?  Noir get-ups can totally work for Summer, just look for lighter fabrics and pieces appropriate for the weather in question (i.e., sandals instead of knee high boots, but you are all smart and probably already knew that!).  This shirt dress was light and airy, perfect for disguising the salad with buerre blanc sance and a side of fries I consumed at lunch.  Oops.
