Thank Goodness For Sweatpants

SEE LARK! | Thank Goodness For Sweatpants

As the title of this post indicates, I am grateful for sweatpants.  I am also thankful for the fact that it is appropriate these days to wear sweatpants out in public (with the right styling of course). The stretch and comfort are a postpartum lady’s best friend and with the vast selection of styles and price points, gives me plenty of variety to choose from.  This harem style made by Gap Body is a current staple of mine, perfect for a stroll in the park with the little one. #TBT Style: Neon Yellow

SEE LARK! |#TBT Style: Neon Yellow

discovered this in my unpublished archives.  It was taken almost exactly a year ago when I had just changed roles within my company and excited to not travel 90% of the time for work.  It’s nice to see that the outfit – a bolt of neon yellow in a traditional v-neck sweater and leather accents in a wool coat – is still relevant this season.  It goes to show you that modern twists to classic pieces really pay off!

Vested Interest

A puffy vest is one of my favorite outerwear pieces. I had owned and worn the same ol’ black vest for years and finally upgraded to a new version in gorgeous green.  Fortunately, it’s also one of the rare pieces that I can wear right now that is non-maternity! Continue reading “Vested Interest”

Touches of Gold

SEE LARK! | Touches of Gold

Sometimes the outfit is all about the accessories. This is definitely the case with my work wear.  A simple navy dress (see a non-maternity version of this outfit here) creates a perfect backdrop for layering gold necklaces and these gorgeous Valentino Rock Studs that I scored on Poshmark. It’s a great way to add bling in a sophisticated and office-appropriate way. Continue reading “Touches of Gold”

Cozy Cardigan

SEE LARK! | Cozy Cardigan

I love the first chill of the season.  It’s not too cold to bear but cold enough to bring out chunky knit sweaters, cardigans, and coats. I am loving this cardigan from Zara and its high collar.  It completely bypasses the need for a scarf.  It’s a perfect piece for transitioning weather and a quick trip for a breakfast bagel (I have my priorities). Black + Blue

SEE LARK! | Black + Blue

I overheard a conversation while on the elevator the other day involving one woman, who was wearing a black top with a navy sweater, telling another woman that if her daughter saw her wearing black and blue together that she would be appalled.  Well no offense, but it sounds like her daughter doesn’t know what she is talking about! Rules like not mixing black and blue and or not wearing white after Labor Day are so passe.   Continue reading “Black + Blue”

Refined Plaid

SEE LARK! | Refined Plaid

With the introduction of Fall comes a variety of plaid patterns for the choosing. I tend to go for the reliable black and white combination in a larger print.  It’s graphic and feels more sophisticated than your “everyday” plaid.  Adding a burgundy heel and a leather jacket (which has been in heavy rotation lately),  are a great toppers that help me channel my pre-pregnancy self. Accentuate The Positive

SEE LARK! | Accentuate The Positive

As I near my ninth month of pregnancy (who are we kidding, it’s really 10 months), I have learned to embrace the baby bump.  It was cute and manageable in the second trimester, but lately I have been feeling large and in charge. My first inclination is to hide in large swaths of fabric.  Then realize I should cherish this time and accentuate my “asset”.  Thank goodness for a basic black tank dress, it’s form-fitting in a slimming color and adding a jacket helps balance out the mid-section. Laced Up

SEE LARK! | Laced Up

I have really been drawn to lace lately and was dying to find a lace dress to wear for work and play. Versatility is key given that my current wardrobe is on a time limit. This Isabella Oliver dress is perfect with a blazer or leather jacket. I wore it solo for my baby shower and will top it with a sweater when it gets colder. Continue reading “Laced Up”

Tucked In Top

SEE LARK! | Tucked In Top

I must admit, I was skeptical about tucking a top while pregnant. I didn’t think it would be flattering but as the belly grew and the tops got longer to cover, things started to look moo-moo-ish…and not in a good way. So I thought, “What the heck! let’s give the half tuck a try!” and was surprisingly pleased with the outcome. Continue reading “Tucked In Top”
