Vibrant Print

A friend of mine got married this past weekend in Napa Valley.  She had a beautiful Indian wedding ceremony and a lot of the female guests (outside of the immediate family) were dressed in saris.  To emulate the same festive and colorful feeling, I wore this maxi skirt in a mustard yellow and royal blue pattern.  It was a random find I discovered during a weekend stroll through Eastern Market.  I loved the vibrant print and volume and thought it would be perfect for the occasion. 2014 Outfit Round-Up

SEE LARK! | 2014 Outfit Round-Up

This is such a cliche, but time really flies when you are having fun. This year has been especially busy with a new role at work to start off the year and a new baby to end it. Through it all, personal style was my drishti in times of stress. While taking a look back at my outfits from this year, I picked out a few of my favorites. I predict these style elements make a repeat appearance in 2015. Continue reading “2014 Outfit Round-Up”

Black + Blue

SEE LARK! | Black + Blue

I overheard a conversation while on the elevator the other day involving one woman, who was wearing a black top with a navy sweater, telling another woman that if her daughter saw her wearing black and blue together that she would be appalled.  Well no offense, but it sounds like her daughter doesn’t know what she is talking about! Rules like not mixing black and blue and or not wearing white after Labor Day are so passe.   Continue reading “Black + Blue”

Refined Plaid

SEE LARK! | Refined Plaid

With the introduction of Fall comes a variety of plaid patterns for the choosing. I tend to go for the reliable black and white combination in a larger print.  It’s graphic and feels more sophisticated than your “everyday” plaid.  Adding a burgundy heel and a leather jacket (which has been in heavy rotation lately),  are a great toppers that help me channel my pre-pregnancy self. Spotted

SEE LARK! | Spotted

No matter how much I love an all-black look, it’s nice to change up the work outfit with a little pattern.  My love for leopard is well known and I was excited to discover this dress which seemed like a cross between leopard and a cheetah print.  Now would that be considered a leetah or a cheopard? Continue reading “Spotted”

Snakeskin

SEE LARK! | Snakeskin

Since I was born in the Year of the Snake, I thought it appropriate to show my “true” self through pattern. I tend to favor solids so wearing a snakeskin print, in pink no doubt, is a change from the everyday. Thankfully, pairing it with trusty gray tones and a denim jacket brings it back to a safe, yet non-boring, place. Continue reading “Snakeskin”

Stars, Stripes and Surprise

SEE LARK! | Stars, Stripes and Surprise

July 4th festivities were last week but I can’t help but carry forward the stars and stripes theme just a wee bit longer. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but my recent outfit posts have been more on the “blousy” side. That’s because I have an ever-growing mid section.  I am excited to share that hubby and I are expecting our first child in early December! Continue reading “Stars, Stripes and Surprise”

A Little Boho

SEE LARK! | A Little Boho

Bohemian is definitely one word that would not describe my everyday style. With that said, it can be easy to ignore an entire style genre and miss out on something great.  So I went out of my comfort zone and took a chance on these slouchy harem pants with an abstract print and tassels. Continue reading “A Little Boho”

Vroom-Vroom

SEE LARK! | Vroom Vroom

I’ve got a need for speed.  Well…at least speed as expressed through my clothing. I have a soft spot for soft silk shirts, specifically those made by Equipment. Not only are they high quality but its quirky designs, like these little motorcycles, makes it that much more fun to wear. Naturally, motorcycles call for a leather skirt to match and I was more than happy to oblige. Continue reading “Vroom-Vroom”

Trifecta

SEE LARK! | Trifecta

There has been denim on denim, all-black, and other looks that intensify one style element.  Therefore, it seemed only natural to me to try out a triple leopard look. The key to pulling off a trifecta of leopard print is to match the bold with subtle. This sweater from Banana Republic is my bold piece, I just love the mix of leopard spots with stripes.
