How To Wear Color

SEE LARK! | How To Wear Color

If you are anything like me, you find comfort in neutral colors. Gray, black, white, and brown will never treat you badly. However, it can be fun to wear color every now and then. Here are some ways to incorporate color into your wardrobe. Continue reading “How To Wear Color”

2014 Outfit Round-Up

SEE LARK! | 2014 Outfit Round-Up

This is such a cliche, but time really flies when you are having fun. This year has been especially busy with a new role at work to start off the year and a new baby to end it. Through it all, personal style was my drishti in times of stress. While taking a look back at my outfits from this year, I picked out a few of my favorites. I predict these style elements make a repeat appearance in 2015. Continue reading “2014 Outfit Round-Up”

#TBT Style: Neon Yellow

SEE LARK! |#TBT Style: Neon Yellow

discovered this in my unpublished archives.  It was taken almost exactly a year ago when I had just changed roles within my company and excited to not travel 90% of the time for work.  It’s nice to see that the outfit – a bolt of neon yellow in a traditional v-neck sweater and leather accents in a wool coat – is still relevant this season.  It goes to show you that modern twists to classic pieces really pay off!

Touches of Gold

Sometimes the outfit is all about the accessories. This is definitely the case with my work wear.  A simple navy dress (see a non-maternity version of this outfit here) creates a perfect backdrop for layering gold necklaces and these gorgeous Valentino Rock Studs that I scored on Poshmark. It’s a great way to add bling in a sophisticated and office-appropriate way. Continue reading “Touches of Gold”

Spotted

No matter how much I love an all-black look, it’s nice to change up the work outfit with a little pattern.  My love for leopard is well known and I was excited to discover this dress which seemed like a cross between leopard and a cheetah print.  Now would that be considered a leetah or a cheopard? Oh La La

SEE LARK! | Oh La La

Wearing stripes always makes me feel like a Parisienne. You’d think that horizontal stripes would not be a friend to a growing figure but it can actually be quite flattering if you choose the right shape.  Go for a more form-fitting design and wear it with something that has a defined shape and angles like a blazer or a long sleeve collared shirt. Throw on a red lip and voilà!   Continue reading “Oh La La”

Business Casual

Office wear can get a little boring, so how can you spice it up yet still be work appropriate?  The key is looking for interesting cuts while still keeping the silhouette simple or wearing traditional pieces in an unconventional color.  Since I am a lover of all things gray and black, I chose the former.  Continue reading “Business Casual”

Fit and Flare

I think back to my first year out of college, buying items for the office based on price and what I *thought* was expected of my wardrobe and ended up looking like…well, a collage graduate. If I were to give advice to my 22 year-old self and to those now entering the workforce, it would be to focus on fabric and fit. Continue reading “Fit and Flare”

Minimalist

SEE LARK! | Jenni Kayne Dress

While in Charleston, I discovered a gorgeous midi length dress from Jenni Kayne’s 2014 Resort Collection. On the hanger, it doesn’t look like much, but when you put it on, it’s one of the most well tailored and flattering dresses I have ever worn. Continue reading “Minimalist”

Thakoon

Can form really meet function? The answer is a definitive YES, and I found it in this dress by Thakoon. Finding a solid investment piece always give me a bit of a shopping high, but when it’s something you discover on sale (when you weren’t even looking), it’s like seeing a double rainbow.
