High Low Tunic

Summer is just around the corner and that means swimsuit season.  A swimsuit wouldn’t be complete without a cute cover-up.  A tunic is a great option and I have always lusted over the style and color choices that Lemlem has to offer.  However, I don’t love the price, especially something that is going to face water and sand.  That’s why I am all for the Old Navy tunic.  It has the same shape and feel for only $18.  Surf’s up!

High Low Sun Shade

With the change in weather (although Mother Nature was not kind to us this weekend) comes spending time outdoors. We have a third floor patio that has been neglected in the past and I would like to use the space more often this year. The house has a modern aesthetic with very little shade from the sun. I have been in love with this Design Within Reach mid-century sunshade for years but could not justify the $1500+ price tag. I was therefore elated to see CB2 offer a very similar design for $349. This is a no-brainer decision!

High Low Jumpsuit

It took me a long while to get used to the idea of jumpsuits (see me fashion one here).  Now that I am fully on the jumpsuit bandwagon, I have been eyeing a more “mechanical engineer” style.  I am really drawn to this khaki colored version from Madewell.  The zippers speak to me, maybe that’s because it would make it nursing friendly…bonus!  On the other hand, I found a brown/green jumpsuit on Asos which leans more towards the feminine side that I also love. How do you feel about the jumpsuit style? Which would you choose?

High Low Winter Whites

I love the warm and fuzzy feeling I get when the holidays come around.  Friends and family come through town for visits and there are sales out the wazoo (is that word?) giving us the opportune time to buy things on our wish list. I am all about winter whites every winter (see my version of a winter white outfit from last season here) and feel that there is a place for this wonderfully neutral color for everyone, including your home.  Here are some pieces that I have my eye on in both a high end and low end version – a tailored shirt dress for her, a cable knit sweater for him, and something furry and fluffy for your house.  Which pieces would you choose?

1. For Her: Thakoon vs. Levi’s

2. For Him: Kenzo vs. J. Crew

3. For Home: Anthropologie vs. Overstock.com

PS: With continuous online sales, prices may be even lower!

I can’t believe the holiday season is upon us again.  This time of year is always full of fashion fun with all the parties, events, and family gatherings planned over the next few months. I am particularly drawn to a basic LBD (or LGD – little gray dress) with festive trimmings.  Here are a few high-low options for your consideration, let cocktail party season begin! High Low Simple Chic Outfit

There is something appealing about a loose-fitting caftan dress. With the right draping, it’s easy, flattering, and quite honestly forgiving. I love the look of white in the Fall and Winter and this Zero + Maria Cornejo dress is one of my favorites with a pointed hemline and crepe fabric. Riller & Fount’s Sebastian dress is a very close look-a-like made of micro modal and spandex (along with a lighter price tag).   Continue reading “High Low Simple Chic Outfit”

High Low Nursery Art

I have been putting a lot of thought into the future nursery. I have never been an overly cutesy person, so I knew I wanted something sweet but not too “themey”.  I love the animal artwork by Sharon Montrose and have been looking over all adorable options on her Animal Print Shop.   Continue reading “High Low Nursery Art”

Three Looks To Emulate From J. Crew’s Style Guide

SEE LARK! | Three Looks To Emulate From J. Crew's Style Guide

Fall is the most exciting season for fashion. Magazines are as thick as novels, we see a lot of rich colors and textures layered together, and so many accessories (handbags, gloves, and hats…oh my!).  With so much eye candy, it’s easy to think you have to buy it all.  I had that experience while inhaling the latest J. Crew style guide over lunch a few weeks ago.  The inner voice was saying “We need that” over and over again.  After taking a step back (and breathing into a paper bag), my more practical side came through. With a little inspiration and incorporating only a few new things, old pieces in your wardrobe can become new again.  Here are three J. Crew looks that caught my eye and how to recreate them without breaking the bank. Continue reading “Three Looks To Emulate From J. Crew’s Style Guide”

High Low Tough Girl Pieces

Now that we are officially in September, I can’t help but look and search for all things leather. A white leather jacket and an upgrade in the basic leather pumps are a good start.   Continue reading “High Low Tough Girl Pieces”
