Peekaboo

SEE LARK! | Peekaboo

Playing peekaboo is a popular past time in my household these days.  As a result, it made sense that my summer wardrobe reflect the same playfulness.  This dress from Madewell is the perfect apparel version of the game.  Its subtle cut-out allows you to bare just a bit of torso, which for one who doesn’t like to show a lot of midriff was just enough to feel fun and sophisticated.  PS…it has pockets!!! Utility Player

An anorak or utility-style jacket is a great piece for Spring since it provides just enough warmth on a windy day. I scored this beauty on Poshmark a couple of months ago but haven’t had the chance to wear it until this weekend. I made a minor modification with the built-in belt.  It actually belongs on the bottom with a few threads sewn in to keep it in tact.  Since I couldn’t imagine myself wearing a belt (or let it hang unbelted) that low, I snipped it free and brought up to the waist.  It’s perfect with jeans and slacks, but I also think it would look great with a midi or maxi- length dress. High Low Jumpsuit

SEE LARK! | High Low Jumpsuit

It took me a long while to get used to the idea of jumpsuits (see me fashion one here).  Now that I am fully on the jumpsuit bandwagon, I have been eyeing a more “mechanical engineer” style.  I am really drawn to this khaki colored version from Madewell.  The zippers speak to me, maybe that’s because it would make it nursing friendly…bonus!  On the other hand, I found a brown/green jumpsuit on Asos which leans more towards the feminine side that I also love. How do you feel about the jumpsuit style? Which would you choose?

Pintucked

The baby bump is in full force now so getting dressed is becoming more strategy than effortless ease.  Fortunately, dress silhouettes these days (and the hot summers) are helping me out. Most summer dresses are flowy and in forgiving shapes. I really liked this cotton dress from Madewell (this is an extra small if you can believe it).

High Low Photographic Swimsuit

Seriously, I cannot believe the July 4th holiday is upon us. As we all get ready to go on holiday and take our summer vacations, we need to make sure we have our swimsuits packed (hopefully your destination involves a beach or pool). I have mentioned in a previous post love for Gray Malin’s aerial shots and then swooned when I discovered his work is available on a swimsuit. It’s quite a splurge at $325, but if you like wearing your art, it’s the perfect choice! If you like the look, but don’t like the price tag (or the long sleeves) I found this Madewell tanksuit that also had a scenic view in a one-piece on sale for $60.  It’s also available as a rash guard and bikini too!

Morocco Meets LA

On the weekends, I reach for a t-shirt and jeans. I love wearing basics but sometimes basics can get a little blah. When in a rut, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.  Continue reading “Morocco Meets LA”

Trifecta

SEE LARK! | Trifecta

There has been denim on denim, all-black, and other looks that intensify one style element.  Therefore, it seemed only natural to me to try out a triple leopard look. The key to pulling off a trifecta of leopard print is to match the bold with subtle. This sweater from Banana Republic is my bold piece, I just love the mix of leopard spots with stripes. The Elements of Edge

SEE LARK! | The Elements of Edge

Despite the range of styles and variety that I try to incorporate into my wardrobe, I notice that I tend to gravitate to certain pieces over and over again. Lately, this has been my distressed boyfriend jeans and a leather jacket (any color). In doing so, I realized your go-to pieces can say a lot about one’s personal style. Silver Lining

There are days where nothing but an all-black outfit will do. Perhaps it’s the season, but it feels very comfortable and familiar. To keep it from looking too goth, I mix different patterns and textures. Continue reading “Silver Lining”

Layered In The Lower East

les-1

While in New York, I had the bright idea to go to the Lower East side to get a bite of those tasty pancakes from Clinton Street Bakery.  This place is tiny, always packed, and on a first come, first serve basis.   Continue reading “Layered In The Lower East”
