I blinked suddenly we are more than halfway done with summer.  Where did the time go?!  I plan to use the weekend to finish up on some home projects, catch some rays, and finally get a much needed cut and color.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  • SHOP. I know this seems ridiculous, but I am kind of in love (and want) with this marble iPhone case.
  • DO. See in one graphic all the real places used in the shooting of Game of Thrones (and maybe plan a trip to one of these gorgeous places too!)

OH thank goodness it’s Friday! We have some friends in town and a group of us are going out to dinner tonight.  Is it sad that we have been texting about it and looking forward to going out sans kiddos?  To top it off, it’s going to be sunny and warm, perfect for a picnic. Hope you have a great weekend! Continue reading “Eat. Shop. Do.”

I survived my first two weeks back to work.  It’s been tough since I miss A dearly plus hubby’s work requires multiple days away from home at a time.  Therefore, in the evenings I am a “single” mom trying to spend time with A and put him to bed (and getting him to STAY asleep), clean and prep for the next day, and somehow find time for me to eat. At first, I just wanted to feel sorry for myself.  But I realized I needed to look at it as a huge accomplishment and shout from the rooftops “We survived the week without incident!”  Each day, my respect for mothers and parents in general increases exponentially.  Fortunately, the family unit comes back together for the weekend and rumor has it, sunny warmer weather is too. We received eight inches of snow today and daylight savings starts in two days for the US. The juxtaposition of these two events seems odd. I am hopeful that with the time change we’ll start to see signs of Spring. Here’s to a warmer (relatively speaking) weekend and getting out of the house. #stircrazy Continue reading “Eat. Shop. Do.”

Wish me luck as I take a mini road trip with A to visit a dear college friend for her baby shower. We are only going to be gone for a day while hubby holds down the fort but I am concerned I won’t have enough trunk space for all the stuff I need for him.  I swore I wouldn’t haul a lot of stuff once I had a kid but seriously, it all seems essential! Regardless, it will be nice to get outside of the Beltway even if only for a short time. Continue reading “Eat. Shop. Do.”

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and for most in the U. S. it’s also when a brutal cold front is supposed to come through. It has me dreaming of my past visits to Austin, TX where it was warm and sunny.  Here’s to cuddling up with a loved one (be it human or a fur baby) and staying cozy.

I rarely have photos of me with my little guy. It’s usually because I am the one taking the pictures. Therefore, I was excited to have this moment captured. They grow up so fast!

I often wondered how women spent their days while on maternity leave.  It’s definitely not vacation but I couldn’t visualize what I would be doing every day.  I was asked the very same question by a friend last week and honestly I still don’t know (other than feeding and caring for the baby – which is probably all that needs to be said!).  What I do know  is that it’s easy to never leave the house or find reasons not to go out, especially in the winter months.  It took some time but I now make sure I find tasks or plan an outing to make the day more purposeful.  Needless to say, even though I am not at “work”, I am ready for the weekend.  Hope you have a restful and warm weekend too! xo Continue reading “Eat. Winter. Ugh. Being a January baby you’d think I would be pumped to see this month arrive, but it’s just so darn cold and dreary! It helps to see, think, and dream of bright colors and florals. If I think it, it will come…right? Continue reading “Eat. Shop. Do.”

I stumbled upon this unintentional vignette while cleaning up yesterday and it’s the best description of my life lately. Pacifiers and burp cloths strewn about the house along with artifacts of our wedding, attending other people’s weddings, and vacation snapshots really sum up the past two and a half years. My little man turned four weeks yesterday and I love him more everyday. There are definite highs and lows while learning to take care of a baby and I am so grateful for my hubby who has been a rock through it all. Speaking of rocks, this weekend we’ll be hanging out with my sister and brother-in-law who have also been great support (as well as my parents) as I vent and ask a bunch of questions about newborns. The funny thing is that the answer I get most often is “I don’t remember, it was all a blur.” I guess that is by design so that people have more than one kid! Have a great weekend everyone, enjoy the calm before the holiday “storm”. Continue reading “Eat. Shop. Do.”
