Jewelry Makes The Best Souvenirs

SEE LARK! | Jewelry Makes The Best Souvenirs

While attending a family wedding, I heard the most beautiful toast to the bride and groom from the bride’s brother. Their father had passed away about a year before and the brother (man of honor) did a magnificent job of channeling his spirit and humor through the speech. One of their father’s words of wisdom on marriage was to always insist on buying jewelry for your wife when on vacation.   Continue reading “Jewelry Makes The Best Souvenirs”

Vieques Part 2

SEE LARK! | Vieques Part 2

Monday’s post talked about the sights and activities in Vieques so Part 2 of the vacation recap focuses on the comfort and style of The W Vieques Retreat. The island is small and a little over 9,000 in population size so you can imagine there aren’t a lot of hotel choices available.  The W has a knack of finding the most remote locations and inserting luxury, so it’s tempting to just stay on property the entire visit (Hello gym, spa, tennis court, lava stone pool and daily smoothies!). Continue reading “Vieques Part 2”

Vieques Part 1

SEE LARK! | Vieques Part 1

Vacation always becomes equal parts relaxation and adventure.  Getting to Vieques, Puerto Rico and to its beautiful beaches is the adventure and then spending time on the beach becomes your relaxing reward. In the first part of my Vieques vacation recap, I’m highlighting some of the destinations and activities that you can find here on the island. Continue reading “Vieques Part 1”

W Retreat Koh Samui

SEE LARK! | W Retreat Koh Samui

Summer is quickly upon us which means getting those summer vacation plans in place. I usually pick my destination on two simple criteria – 1. Is there a beach? and 2. Does it have a Starwood property option? After having traveled frequently for work over the past 10 years and being finicky about bathrooms and bedding, The W Hotel has been my favorite Starwood brand in both comfort and style. Travel With Style

SEE LARK! | Travel With Style | Equipment Top

The phrase “I don’t know what to pack!” is almost as bad as staring in your closet and saying “I don’t have anything to wear!” Travel can be exciting but it’s also pressure to choose and commit to outfits which can cause one to over pack (hello, checked baggage weight limit). After years of traveling for work, I have honed in on the art of packing lightly while maintaining flexibility. Continue reading “Travel With Style”

Charleston Part Deux

My first trip to Charleston, South Carolina was for a friend’s wedding.  The visit was sweet but definitely too short.  Therefore, I was excited to return spending the weekend exploring the city.  This southern town is beautiful and rich in history, but did you know that it has also been consistently voted one of the top cities in the US and even one of the top destinations globally? Well, I can see why.  The city offers a wide variety of sights, activities, and delicious eats…here’s are a few highlights. Continue reading “Charleston Part Deux”

No Sleep Til Brooklyn

brooklyn-1, brooklyn, new york

Why oh why do I visit New York in the winter?  It’s for the frigid air and blustery winds, that’s why…NOT.  In all seriousness, I make it out to New York once or twice a year.  I even lived in Manhattan for a year, but would you believe that I had never visited Brooklyn?   Continue reading “No Sleep Til Brooklyn”

New York Minute

Given DC’s proximity to New York, I am surprised that I visit only one or two times a year.  Hubby and I ventured out a couple of weeks ago in hopes of enjoying a mild Fall weekend in the city but was faced with a cold front instead.   Continue reading “New York Minute”

A Tale of Two Valleys

My husband and I spent an extended weekend in wine country a few weeks ago for our friends’ wedding. We stayed in Napa and explored its quaint downtown and then shuttled over to Sonoma for the weekend festivities. Continue reading “A Tale of Two Valleys”

Victoria B.C.

If you haven’t visited the Pacific Northwest then add it to your list of must-see destinations. Being a native Texan and East Coast transplant, I do not make it out West very often. When my husband and I first got engaged in 2011, we celebrated with a trip to Victoria, British Columbia. Continue reading “Victoria B.C.”
