Peekaboo

SEE LARK! | Peekaboo

Playing peekaboo is a popular past time in my household these days.  As a result, it made sense that my summer wardrobe reflect the same playfulness.  This dress from Madewell is the perfect apparel version of the game.  Its subtle cut-out allows you to bare just a bit of torso, which for one who doesn’t like to show a lot of midriff was just enough to feel fun and sophisticated.  PS…it has pockets!!! Is This Normcore?

SEE LARK! | Normcore

I learned the term “Normcore” last year when it blew up the fashion world. It describes an “anti-style” style, think bland, non-descript clothing.  Some may argue that it’s not a trend all. Regardless, I have embraced more basics into my wardrobe making it easy to get dressed in the morning. Normcore or not, it’s definitely practical and stylish. Continue reading “Is This Normcore?”

Utility Player

An anorak or utility-style jacket is a great piece for Spring since it provides just enough warmth on a windy day. I scored this beauty on Poshmark a couple of months ago but haven’t had the chance to wear it until this weekend. I made a minor modification with the built-in belt.  It actually belongs on the bottom with a few threads sewn in to keep it in tact.  Since I couldn’t imagine myself wearing a belt (or let it hang unbelted) that low, I snipped it free and brought up to the waist.  It’s perfect with jeans and slacks, but I also think it would look great with a midi or maxi- length dress. New Year And New Hair

SEE LARK! | New Year And New Hair

I am ashamed to admit that I hadn’t had a haircut since July! A trim and an update to my everyday hairstyle was much needed. I jumped on the LOB train as it was enough for a noticeable change and still allowed me to wear it up. New hair calls for new clothes and this flouncy top and skinny jeans I scored on major discount fit the bill. Continue reading “New Year And New Hair”

Post Holiday Sequins

SEE LARK! | Post Holiday Sequins

We are all probably experiencing a little bit of the post-holiday blues.  Gifts are all unwrapped, the last champagne has been consumed, and you are packing away your sequins/glitter/feathered garments for next year’s holiday events. Good news folks…you don’t have to pack away your festive wear.  There are great ways to incorporate these pieces in the new year.  Case in point, look at the sequins leggings.  It’s dressy yet practical for more than the occasional cocktail party. This is especially true for the pair I scored from Boutique Chic Auctions.  I am usually wary of sequins since the backside can be scratchy against the skin; however, this pair has a warm and cozy lining and the best part is that it’s super budget-friendly.  I dressed them down for daytime wear with an oversized “boyfriend” shirt which is my go-to top these days. Slouchy Skinny

SEE LARK! | Slouchy Skinny

The term slouchy skinny sounds like an oxymoron; however, it does exist. It’s a great fit and style of denim for those that find the boyfriend jean to be too frumpy or just not quite the right shape. I am currently living In a pair by Current Elliott. It’s the perfect cross between style and comfort going with almost every type of shoe. Here, I try it out with an Oxford shoe and feeling like I hit the “dressed-up casual” jackpot. Continue reading “Slouchy Skinny”

Cozy Cardigan

I love the first chill of the season.  It’s not too cold to bear but cold enough to bring out chunky knit sweaters, cardigans, and coats. I am loving this cardigan from Zara and its high collar.  It completely bypasses the need for a scarf.  It’s a perfect piece for transitioning weather and a quick trip for a breakfast bagel (I have my priorities). Refined Plaid

SEE LARK! | Refined Plaid

With the introduction of Fall comes a variety of plaid patterns for the choosing. I tend to go for the reliable black and white combination in a larger print.  It’s graphic and feels more sophisticated than your “everyday” plaid.  Adding a burgundy heel and a leather jacket (which has been in heavy rotation lately),  are a great toppers that help me channel my pre-pregnancy self. Laced Up

SEE LARK! | Laced Up

I have really been drawn to lace lately and was dying to find a lace dress to wear for work and play. Versatility is key given that my current wardrobe is on a time limit. This Isabella Oliver dress is perfect with a blazer or leather jacket. I wore it solo for my baby shower and will top it with a sweater when it gets colder. Continue reading “Laced Up”

Snakeskin

SEE LARK! | Snakeskin

Since I was born in the Year of the Snake, I thought it appropriate to show my “true” self through pattern. I tend to favor solids so wearing a snakeskin print, in pink no doubt, is a change from the everyday. Thankfully, pairing it with trusty gray tones and a denim jacket brings it back to a safe, yet non-boring, place. Continue reading “Snakeskin”
